Quote of the day

Never regret. If it's good, it's wonderful. If it's bad, it's experience.

I am Alive

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Quick Update

I know, I know... I have been such a slacker! I hate that I am so busy that I can't even update my blog. I really need to just slow down and take a breather.

A lot of things have been happening in our little family. Gareth is crazy busy in Mesquite. They are working on some sort of bridge that keeps him ornery and busy! I am staying busy at the theatres. We are now getting ready for our busy season, so I am going through applications and trying to get people trained before than. The boys, well they keep me busy all in themselves. Between school, band, choir, and homework. Now they are throwing in baseball to the mixture. They have tryouts next week, and the games will start at the end of the month. Oh, and did I mention that they just got done taking the hunter safety course? I am glad to announce that they passed that with flying colors, lol...

On another note, we got to see my dad this week. I can not even tell you how happy that it makes me when I get to see him. I miss him every day, and don't know what I would do without him. So, if you are reading this dad.... I LOVE YOU!!!!

A productive week

Ever wonder.....? If so, go read my Holler'N Holly blog and I will wonder with ya,lol....

So, this week has been full of fun activities and projects. Choir performances, baseball games, house cleaning, and to think... It is only Wednesday :)

Yesterday Eastyn had his 1 and only choir performance at school, he did a fantastic job. The only thing that I wish would have been different, is I wish they had the A/C on in the school. When you get 100 kids and 200 adults in one little auditorium, it gets extremely hot! Right after his performance, we went to Cadyn's ball game. He got to play 3rd, and did a fantastic job. Sad to say they lost the game, but they gave their all!!!

This morning Cadyn had his last choir performance, one of the songs almost made me cry. They sang You raise me Up..... It was very moving. After I left the school, I came home and started to clean the house. I haven't had a day off in awhile, so this needed to be done! Now, I am relaxing before I go to the store, ugh.... I hate the store.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Crazy

So a lot has been going on in the past couple weeks. Cadyn started baseball, he plays for the Yankee's which makes Aunt Kari extremely happy, and Uncle Jeff extremely upset. He is doing a fantastic job. Eastyn is playing church basketball, and has become a fan of the skateboard. He loves taking it apart and putting it back together again. It is just mind blowing how quickly they are teaching themselves new things. I love to sit and watch them figuring out something new, whether it be taking something apart, or learning to draw something. It truly is amazing!!

I have become the new House Manager at the movies. This is a honor, and a test all in one. I am sad that the previous manager decided to leave, but am happy that he thinks that I can run the theatre (especially since I have only worked there since January). It is a test, as I am still learning myself, but I have faith in myself, and I know that I will be able to give 100% and get things done. I have this motivation tool for my "movie family", which is..... Wait for it...... Wait for it...... SINGING, lol.... I will sing until things get done. Now, for those of you that have heard me sing, you can understand the motivation to get things done. I am not a good singer by any means, and if they hurry, I will shut up! Now, the downfall to this, is that they have decided to sing also, lol.... So, I guess that keeps me motivated to get my work done, lol.

Well, I will try to post more often, and until I do, just remember this......
Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase

Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze

It means no worries for the rest of your days

It's our problem-free philosophy

Hakuna Matata!
(yes, I am singing- get over it, lol)

New Blog

Wow.. 2 Posts in 1 day... I need a life, lol... Well, I have created a blog that is just from me, it has nothing to do with the Ewell family. I just needed a place to write my random thoughts, vent and anything that I think I want to post there!!!! My good friend Kari (who I have learned so much from) has a "Ramblin" blog, and I thought that it was time for me to join in and have a "Holler'n Holly" blog. So, if you would like to read it, here is the url....

Which Character Are You?

I stole this from Dani's blog, as I LOVE Greys Anatomy!

I am Dr. Bailey:
It's no mistake that you have a reputation for being intimidating. Not bad for someone who was too shy to approach anyone but your teachers in high school. Now, you're a force to be reckoned with, a regular superhero who can do anything except balance the demands of work and home. But if anyone can do it, you can. Look at how much you've already accomplished.

Do you really think I am like Bailey???? Let me know

Summertime vs. Wintertime

So, I am sure by now you have all noticed my new background for my blog, and that it is kind of summerish! Well, I did this because I am boycotting Winter this year! Yes, you heard right.....

Gareth & I are taking our boys on their "Summer Vacation" in 19 days. We leave on the 9th, and won't get back until early morning on the 18th. We are going to have fun in the sun! Oh yeah.... Beaches, Rides, flip flops... Who could ask for anything more?

- Like I said... I am boycotting Winter this year...

Retraction!!!!

I am sorry to report that I have made a mistake and would like to publicly apologize to my Amazing mother-n-law....

I thought she said Vitamin C, but instead she said Vitamin A.... and as always, she was correct...

Particularly Vitamins D, A, and E, and many minerals help reduce allergies!!!

Allergies !!!!!

As I write, my nose is red and dripping and itches, my throat itches all the way down my esophagus, my skin is dry and (you guessed it) itchy, and I'm having a hard time breathing. I can't think through the fog of itchy, scratchy, cough and stuffiness.

Why do people get allergies? What is the purpose? I mean, we all suffer from one form of allergen to another, but what do they do? Why do they come on within seconds? You can be fine one minute, and 20 seconds later, you are in the not-so-fun world of allergies!

Well, I decided that I would do some research to see what causes allergies, (Yes, Stacey... I am taking your advice) and to find out the best remedies.

Here is what I found out.......

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Allergy is a disorder of the immune system often also referred to as atopy.

Mild allergies like hay fever are highly prevalent in the human population and cause symptoms such as allergic conjunctivitis, itchiness, and runny nose. Allergies can play a major role in conditions such as asthma. In some people, severe allergies to environmental or dietary allergens or to medication may result in life-threatening anaphylactic reactions and potentially death.

Okay, now that we know the actual "defination" of Allergy, lets find out how to ease them a little shall we?

Source: familydoctor.org

What medicines can I take to help relieve my symptoms?

Antihistamines help reduce the sneezing, runny nose and itchiness of allergies. They're more useful if you use them before you're exposed to allergens.
* "More useful if you use them before you are exposed to allergens?" Why in the hell would you want to take medication when you don't have symptoms?

Some antihistamines can cause drowsiness and dry mouth. Others are less likely to cause these side effects, but some of these require a prescription. Ask your doctor which kind is best for you.
*Drowsiness and dry mouth??? So, I go from itchy, sneezy to dry mouth? Yeah.... That sounds like fun!!

Decongestants, such as pseudoephedrine and phenylephrine help temporarily relieve the stuffy nose of allergies. Decongestants are found in many medicines and come as pills, nose sprays and nose drops. They are best used only for a short time. Nose sprays and drops shouldn't be used for more than 3 days because you can become dependent on them. This causes you to feel even more stopped-up when you try to quit using them.
*Hmmmm.... Getting addicted to a decongestant- Need I say more? What if your allergies stay longer then 3 days, then all of a sudden you are an addict?

You can buy decongestants without a doctor's prescription. However, decongestants can raise your blood pressure, so it's a good idea to talk to your family doctor before using them, especially if you have high blood pressure.
*Great, now I not only will have allergies, be potentially addicted to my nose spray, I now have to worry about having a heart attack!!! Fabulous....

Cromolyn sodium is a nasal spray that helps prevent the body's reaction to allergens. Cromolyn sodium is more helpful if you use it before you're exposed to allergens. This medicine may take 2 to 4 weeks to start working. It is available without a prescription.
*Again.... Taking or starting a medication before you have symptoms? And what is with the 2-4 weeks before it starts to work.... Like we have that long!

Nasal steroid sprays reduce the reaction of the nasal tissues to inhaled allergens. This helps relieve the swelling in your nose so that you feel less stopped-up. They come in nasal sprays that your doctor may prescribe. You won't notice their benefits for up to 2 weeks after starting them.
* So you want me to spray a steriod base medication up my nose, and wait for 2 weeks before I feel the benefits? Sure, why the hell not... I have been miserable now (according to all this helpful information) for 4-8 weeks now!

Your doctor may prescribe steroid pills for a short time or give you a steroid shot if your symptoms are severe or if other medicines aren't working for you.

Eye drops. If your other medicines are not helping enough with your itchy, watery eyes, your doctor may prescribe eye drops for you.
*Finally, something that might help right away, but you don't need a prescription for it... VISINE!!!!

Now, to answer my mother-in-law's question......."Yes, she is always right!!!"

Researchers from Harvard University have linked increasing rates of asthma and allergies with a lack of Vitamin D.

But......This is where she is incorrect (Sorry Stacey)

source: WebMD.com

Vitamin C was first touted for the common cold in the 1970s. But despite its widespread use, experts say there is very little proof that vitamin C actually has any effect on the common cold or allergies.

***** So, I know this post got a little long, but doing all the research and finding out that nothing freaking helps when you need them too... I have come to this conclusion.... wait for it........

ALLERGIES SUCK!!! (Bet you didn't know that huh, lol)

Random Pet Peeves

1. Men who leave little tiny hair in the sink after shaving! Why is it they can't wipe up their mess when they are done. I mean really- it takes 2 seconds.

2. Hard, crusted old toothpaste in the sink! Why is it, people can't wipe or rinse the toothpaste off? Gross

3. People who don't laugh, but just say "that's funny" instead. Do they really think it's funny or are they mocking me?

4. A messy bed at night! I know I am weird, but I HAVE to make the bed right before I get into it. The sheets, blankets and pillows have to be in their right place. Can't sleep if they are not.

5. People who sing at the top of their lungs, and don't even know the words to the song. Come on people... Learn the words!!!

6. People who say, "I know how you feel". When they don't. They have never been in the situation. So, NO- You don't know how I feel, or how anyone else feels. So, don't say it unless you actually know what the person is going through..... (Sorry, that one I had to vent)

7. Stupid people. I know there are people that might not have a college education, or even a high school education, but ..... Do you really have to act like you are 2? You are smart, you have learned something in your life, act like it! Don't just play the poor-poor-pitiful-stupid-me! (by the way, that was a hyphenated modifier, in case you didn't know, lol )

8. Bad shopping carts! Why on earth do stores keep them, when they know that the wheels are bad, and eventually they are going to hurt someone????

9. Telemarketers!!! I understand that some people need a job, but really???? Can't you call at a decent time, not at the crack of dawn or at 11:00 at night! Also, if we ask you not to call, don't call us right back, it is just plain ass rude!!!!! UGH....

10. People that give up to easily! We all have our struggles, but we all can get up every morning, and just thank God, that you are still alive and have people that love and care about you.... Don't dwell on the big things, because eventually they will be the little things.

Snow White

I stole this from Krystal's blog, just out of curiosity on my part. What are the questions? What are the correct answers? Do you have to have seen all the princess movies over and over to understand?

Well, I took the quiz and it shows that I would be Snow White! What do you all think, does it fit me?

Ugh!!!!

Ok, so I realize my last post was a little PG-13ish, and I apologize for that, but haven't you ever just felt like that? Where you don't care what people think or do? I am having one of those days where I am just irritated. Don't know why I am irritated, I just am. Work is fine, my boys are fine, I am just in one of those moods. I have been under a little bit of stress lately, but all and all I just can't figure out why the irritation!!!

I guess I will just have to chalk it up to the change in the weather (which I LOVE by the way)...

Women, geesh! LOL
